Frank Lampard promised time at Chelsea?

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is reportedly prepared to hand Frank Lampard time to become a success at Stamford Bridge should he become the club's new manager.

Frank Lampard will reportedly be given at least one full season in charge at Chelsea if he leaves Derby County for a return to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are keen to bring the 41-year-old in as a replacement for Maurizio Sarri, who linked up with Juventus despite a relatively successful 11 months in West London.

There are concerns among Chelsea's fanbase that owner Roman Abramovich may replace Lampard should he not enjoy a successful start to life in the Premier League side's dugout.

They may be unfounded, according to The Telegraph, with Abramovich said to have assured the former midfielder that he will be given a full campaign to make a positive impression.

Lampard remains in talks with Chelsea, although it is widely expected that they will soon confirm the arrival of a man who netted a club-record 211 goals during his playing career.
