Frank Lampard pleased with Roberto Di Matteo regime

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard claims that interim coach Roberto di Matteo's "simple" brand of football has reinvigorated the team.

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has claimed that interim coach Roberto di Matteo's "simple" brand of football has reinvigorated the team.

The Italian was promoted from assistant to manager following Andre Villas-Boas's sacking at the start of March.

"It's simple, not over-complicated," Lampard told BBC Sport. "It was a case of getting confidence back in the team. Judging by the results, in majority, he's done that.

"He's been a manager before - successfully with MK Dons and West Brom. When he left West Brom people weren't sure [about the decision] - they probably would have stayed up anyway. I think he's revelling in making decisions."

The Blues travel to Aston Villa in the Premier League this weekend.
