Juan Mata thanks Chelsea fans for travelling to Japan to support them in the World Club Cup.

Chelsea playmaker Juan Mata has thanked fans for travelling to Japan following their 1-0 defeat to Corinthians in the final of the FIFA World Club Cup.

Paolo Guerrero's strike was enough to give the Brazilians the trophy and Mata later paid tribute to the supporters who had made the trip to the tournament.

"It's a tough moment, especially for the Chelsea fans that came to Japan," Mata wrote on his blog.

"Thank you so much to all of you for your unconditional support. I hope we can enjoy good moments and lift more trophies for the club and for you very soon. We're still playing to win four trophies and we will give everything we have to success in each of them."

Chelsea were Europe's representative at the tournament after winning the Champions League last season.
