Newcastle boss Alan Pardew reveals that he is happy for Fernando Torres following the Chelsea striker's recent return to form.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has admitted that he is happy for Fernando Torres following the Chelsea striker's recent return to form.

The Spaniard, who is expected to line up for the Blues against Newcastle tonight, has scored four goals in his last two games after a difficult first year at Stamford Bridge.

However, Pardew hopes that the forward doesn't continue his resurgence against his side.

"Listen, great players very rarely are down for long. I am pleased for him personally," he told reporters.

"I have been to a few games where I have seen him suffer, and don't think as professionals you want to see that from a fellow professional.

"He looks like he's got a nice smile on his face - I just hope he isn't smiling on Wednesday."

The Magpies have a chance of returning to the Champions League places with results this evening.
