Report: Chelsea's Diego Costa to escape FA action over kick on Martin Skrtel

Chelsea striker Diego Costa will reportedly not be punished by the FA for kicking Martin Skrtel during Saturday's 3-1 defeat to Liverpool.

The Football Association has reportedly decided against taking retrospective action against Chelsea striker Diego Costa over an incident involving Martin Skrtel during Saturday's defeat to Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

The controversial forward appeared to kick Skrtel in the chest during a tussle on the ground in the Blues' 3-1 loss, which is their sixth Premier League defeat of the season.

There were reports that Costa would be hit with a four-game ban for violent conduct after no action was taken by referee Mark Clattenburg during the game, but it is believed that the Spain international has escaped punishment.

According to Sky Sports News, the FA feels that Clattenburg dealt with the incident at the time, meaning that retrospective action would not be necessary.

Costa served a three-match ban earlier in the season for smacking Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny in the face.
