Gianfranco Zola: 'Chelsea have spent well this summer'

Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola claims that his former club have spent well during this summer's transfer window, believing they have strengthened "in every position".

Former Chelsea player Gianfranco Zola has praised his old club's acquisitions over the last transfer window, believing that the Blues now have strong players "in every position".

Jose Mourinho's outfit have spent around £82m this summer, purchasing Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas and Filipe Luis, as well as re-signing former striker Didier Drogba on a free transfer.

Zola told The Express: "I think it was very clever the way [Chelsea] used their money. They have a strong team, in every position they are very good.

"The quality of the football has been made better and I believe that Fabregas has a lot to do with that.

"Chelsea look like they will be one of the teams to beat - but the Premier League is long and the tough moments will come."

Chelsea finished third in the Premier League last season, four points behind champions Manchester City.
