Bookmakers slash the odds on Maurizio Sarri to be sacked by Chelsea in the wake of his side's 4-0 defeat to Bournemouth.

The odds on Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri being sacked by the club have been slashed following Wednesday's 4-0 defeat to Bournemouth.

The Blues fell to their heaviest league defeat for 23 years at Dean Court as goals from Joshua King (2), David Brooks and Charlie Daniels saw Bournemouth put the visitors to the sword.

The result also saw Chelsea drop out of the top four and be replaced by Arsenal on goal difference, despite Gunners having not even played on the same night.

Pressure on Sarri has been growing in recent weeks following five defeats in their last 12 Premier League games, and bookmakers have now made him the favourite to be the next top-flight manager sacked.

Odds have been cut to as low as 2/1 from 16/1 before the Bournemouth defeat, while assistant boss Gianfranco Zola is the early favourite to succeed his compatriot.

Sarri only joined Chelsea last summer and started well, but growing frustration among the fans in addition to public criticism of his players has begun to raise questions over the Italian's future.
