Patrick Bamford: 'Joining Crystal Palace was easy decision'

Patrick Bamford reveals that it was an easy decision for him to join Crystal Palace on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea.

Patrick Bamford has stated that it was an easy decision for him to join Crystal Palace on loan from Chelsea.

The 21-year-old striker moved to the Eagles on Tuesday after signing a new three-year contract with his parent club.

Bamford has revealed that he decided to make the switch across London after realising that he would find first-team opportunities limited at Stamford Bridge this term.

"I was quite keen to stay close to London this time and Palace were actually my first choice, but I didn't realise they were keen to start with. Then, when I met with the manager, he put forward his plans and it was an easy decision," Bamford told Palace's official website.

"I like to get in behind the defence. I'd say I'm deceptively quick, but I'm sure they'll make their own minds up! I do like to score goals, so hopefully I'll be able to do that a lot here.

"I want to try to establish myself in a Premier League team and if I can do that here then it would be great for me and great for the club."

Bamford joins Palace after spending last season on loan at Middlesbrough, where he scored 17 goals to win the Championship Player of the Year award.
