Chelsea reportedly intend to monitor any developments with Barcelona playmaker Philippe Coutinho as they consider an approach in the summer.

Chelsea are reportedly keeping tabs on Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho ahead of a potential approach in the summer.

Coutinho has only spent 13 months at Camp Nou but despite contributing 18 goals from 54 appearances in all competitions, it is uncertain whether the playmaker will remain at the club ahead of next season.

Chelsea may sell Eden Hazard to Real Madrid during the summer, and according to The Independent, the Blues are prepared to monitor any developments with Coutinho.

The report suggests that Chelsea would be prepared to spend big money in order to secure the signature of the former Liverpool man.

The 26-year-old still has just under four-and-a-half years remaining on his contract, but the Brazilian could potentially be sold in order to fund a move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar.
