Chelsea want to sign Napoli's £35m-rated striker Edinson Cavani.

Chelsea are interested in signing Napoli's Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani, according to The Mirror.

Cavani, who is seen as an ideal replacement for Didier Drogba, has been watched in action by Chelsea's new European scout Mick Doherty.

The 24-year-old had been linked with a move to Manchester City or Manchester United during the summer.

Cavani scored 26 goals in Italy's Serie A last season and scored Napoli's only goal in their 1-1 Champions League draw with Manchester City last month.

Napoli are reportedly ready to let Cavani leave if a club can match their £35m asking price.

Andre Villas-Boas wants the player to replace Didier Drogba, who is likely to be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
