Chelsea are reportedly contemplating a January approach for Bordeaux striker Josh Maja, who has previously represented Sunderland.

Chelsea have reportedly identified Bordeaux striker Josh Maja as a potential January signing.

With the Blues now being allowed to make additions during the January transfer window, numerous high-profile players have been linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge.

However, according to 90 min, the West Londoners are considering making a bid for Maja, who only left Sunderland for the Ligue 1 side in January.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed a productive campaign, contributing five goals and two assists from 16 appearances in France's top flight.

While 11 of those outings have come from the substitutes' bench, the youngster's reputation has continued to grow, making him a natural target for clubs back in England.

Maja, who netted 16 times from 31 league appearances for Sunderland, still has over three-and-a-half years left on his contract.
