The agent of Atletico Madrid striker Jackson Martinez has confirmed that Chelsea have made enquiries about a January transfer.
The 29-year-old Colombian has thus far failed to settle in the Spanish capital, having found the net just three times in 12 appearances since his summer switch from Porto for £26m.
Chelsea are keen to bring in fresh faces next month as they bid to turn around their dismal season and have even considered a swap deal for Martinez with the underperforming Diego Costa.
Martinez's agent Henrique Pompei told Football Espana: "Jackson wants to succeed at Atletico, but it's the club who will decide his future.
"I can't say [Chelsea's interest] is a lie, this is football and no-one knows what will happen in the future."
Tottenham Hotspur have also been credited with an interest in Martinez.
