Real Madrid have allegedly made contact with Chelsea over the availability of defender David Luiz.

According to the Birmingham Mail, Brazilian centre-back Luiz, who has fallen out of favour under Antonio Conte, is being considered by Madrid president Florentino Perez.

The source says that AC Milan defender Leonardo Bonucci is the prime target for Perez, but should that potential deal fall through, Luiz will be targeted as a backup option.

Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane is looking to resurrect a torrid season with an overhaul of his squad, amid reports that the Frenchman will chase three further Premier League stars in a £500m swoop.

Madrid sit fourth in La Liga, 19 points behind leaders Barcelona.
