Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp says Luka Modric will not be leaving for Chelsea this summer.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has claimed that midfielder Luka Modric will not be leaving the club.

The Croatian playmaker has been linked with a move to Chelsea for much of the summer but Redknapp has insisted that the player will not be leaving White Hart Lane.

Redknapp met with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and has been told that the 25-year-old will not be moving to Chelsea.

"There was a meeting today," said Redknapp. "I think Daniel has just said the same thing - he is not for sale. So that is where we are.

"Luka will stay and play and I am sure that he will be as great again as he has been every other year he has been here.

"I think that the matter is finished now. Yes, I do."

Modric did not play in Spurs' goalless draw with Hearts on Thursday, a result which sees Spurs progress to the Europa League group stages after their 5-0 win in the first leg.
