Report: Chelsea to rival Liverpool for Maxi Gomez

A report claims that Chelsea will rival Liverpool for the signing of Celta Vigo ace Maxi Gomez.

Chelsea intend to go head to head with Premier League rivals Liverpool for Celta Vigo star Maxi Gomez, according to a report.

The 22-year-old has scored 26 goals in 58 La Liga appearances since joining Celta from Defensor Sporting in 2017, including nine in 22 this term.

Liverpool are said to be considering a summer move for Gomez, who is believed to have come close to joining West Ham United in the January window.

According to The Sun, Chelsea may also be about to make an approach for the Argentina international and they are prepared to go as high as £35m with their offer.

Chelsea brought in Gonzalo Higuain from Juventus five weeks ago, but the striker is due to return back to his parent club in the summer.
