Report: AC Milan holding out for Cesc Fabregas signing

A report claims that AC Milan will not make an approach for Cesc Fabregas until next summer, but Real Madrid could offer the Chelsea midfielder a lifeline.

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas will reportedly not be offered a January escape route by AC Milan as they intend to wait until next summer before making an approach.

The Spain international, currently nursing an injury problem, has started just once for the Blues in the Premier League this season under new boss Antonio Conte.

Milan have been heavily linked with the 29-year-old in recent weeks, despite manager Vincenzo Montella claiming that he was after a 'different type of player', with The Express reporting that the Italian giants are planning a summer bid.

That will likely mean that Fabregas will have to make do with a place on the bench for most of the season, though it is also suggested that Real Madrid are also interested and could offer him a lifeline should they be cleared to sign players.

Fabregas has made six appearances for Chelsea in all competitions this term, finding the net twice in the EFL Cup win over Leicester City last month but featuring just once since.
