RB Leipzig Timo Werner allegedly prefers to secure a transfer to Liverpool other any other interested clubs during the summer.

Liverpool have allegedly emerged as Timo Werner's preferred destination should he leave RB Leipzig during the summer transfer window.

With Werner having impressed in the Bundesliga and Champions League this season, a number of top European clubs have been credited with an interest in the Germany international's signature.

However, while the likes of Chelsea and Bayern Munich are said to be admirers, it appears that Liverpool are best placed to push through a deal.

At a time when reports have claimed that the Premier League giants made contact with Werner over a move in January, European football expert Kevin Hatchard says that the player is keen on moving to Anfield later in 2020.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Hatchard said: "They're talking about the top end of €60m (£50.35m). So, for me, for a player of his quality and experience, bearing in mind this is a guy who is in his early to mid-20's and he has played over 200 games in the Bundesliga.

"So vastly experienced already, improving all the time, I think he has really benefited from playing under Julien Nagelsmann because he played as an out-and-out striker for pretty much his whole career.

"So he is improving and I think he would do very well in the Premier League, he has said on numerous occasions he thinks the Premier League is an exciting prospect and some pretty reliable German media sources are saying that Liverpool are very much one of the clubs who want to sign him and he is keen."

Werner possesses a release clause in his contract, leaving Liverpool and any other clubs to activate that option.
