Liverpool reportedly sent scouts to watch Benfica striker Carlos Vinicius as he scored twice in a 3-2 defeat to Porto and will continue to keep tabs on the Brazilian.

Liverpool are reportedly monitoring the progress of Carlos Vinicius ahead of a possible summer move for the Benfica striker.

Jurgen Klopp is thought to be considering bolstering his attacking options ahead of a 2020-21 campaign which will likely see Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane miss a spell of Premier League action due to the Africa Cup of Nations.

Roberto Firmino is also expected to be part of a major international tournament for the third summer in a row at the 2020 Copa America, leading to speculation that Liverpool will look to increase their depth up front.

The likes of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz have been linked with moves to Anfield, and Portuguese outlet O Jogo reports that the European champions are also interested in Carlos Vinicius.

Liverpool scouts were reportedly in attendance to watch the 24-year-old score twice in Benfica's 3-2 defeat at the hands of Porto last weekend.

Vinicius has scored 19 goals and provided 12 assists in 29 appearances across all competitions this season, directly contributing to a goal every 86 minutes.

However, the price tag could be a sticking point in any negotiations, with the Brazilian's contract running until 2024 and containing a €100m (£84.3m) release clause.
