Steve Parish: 'Crystal Palace managerial appointment soon'

Co-chairman Steve Parish is hoping that Crystal Palace are able to appoint a new manager early this week.

Crystal Palace's co-chairman Steve Parish has revealed that the club are keen to fill their managerial vacancy "in the early part of this week".

Last week it appeared that Malky Mackay was about to be confirmed as Tony Pulis's successor, but the emergence of misconduct allegations via text messages and e-mails from the Scot's time as boss of Cardiff City resulted in Palace seeking an alternative option.

However, with the transfer window due to close next Monday, Parish has admitted that a quick appointment is now a necessity.

"I have seen very few people, probably two, but I've spoken to other people about managers and doing background work and due diligence," BBC Sport quotes Parish as saying.

"Obviously I hope to try and have someone in the early part of this week, because we have got the transfer window [closing next week]."

Former Celtic manager Neil Lennon is the current favourite with the bookmakers to take the job.
