Tony Pulis plays down personal awards

Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis plays down the importance of individual awards, as Arsene Wenger claims that the coach should be considered for the Manager of the Year accolade.

Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis has played down the importance of individual awards, following claims from Arsene Wenger that the coach should be considered for the Manager of the Year accolade.

Wenger stated during a news conference yesterday that he believes the award should be contested between Pulis and Steve Bruce of Hull City.

"That's for other people to decide. It doesn't make any difference to me," Pulis said of the award, according to The Express.

"Accolades come and go. The most important thing is you enjoy your job and that you take and glean what you need to get out of the job you are doing.

"I enjoy being a manager and I enjoy coaching. I would rather be there on the training field and if I can do that for the next 10, 15 years, I would be delighted."

The former Stoke City coach has led a Palace revival since being appointed as manager, transporting the club from a relegation position into 11th spot in the Premier League table.
