Czech Republic defender Theodor Gebre Selassie confirms that he heard monkey chants during his side's 4-1 loss to Russia, but claims that he has experienced "much worse".

Czech Republic defender Theodor Gebre Selassie has claimed that he had racist chants directed at him during his side's 4-1 loss to Russia on Friday.

The abuse was initially reported by the Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE) network, who send two monitors to each game to look for abusive banners or chants.

However, despite acknowledging the abuse, Gebre Selassie revealed that he has been subjected to much worse in his life and is already over the incident.

"I noticed that," Gebre Selassie said.

"It was nothing extreme. I've experienced much worse.

"Personally, I'm ready to put it behind me. I see no reason to discuss it with the media."

Gebre Selassie, whose father is Ethiopian, made his debut for Czech Republic in 2011 and has since won 11 caps for his country.
