Morten Olsen to finish 16-year stint as Denmark manager next year

Denmark manager Morten Olsen announces that he will leave his job when his contract expires at the end of Euro 2016.

Morten Olsen has announced that he will end his tenure as manager of the Denmark national team after next summer's Euro 2016 Championships in France.

The 65-year-old has been in charge of the Danes since 2000 but has decided not to pursue a new contract when his current deal expires next summer.

"It is an emotional decision to make," he told Dbu.dk. "It is not a job but a lifestyle. It's a huge honour to be in this job. I have a passion for it."

Former midfielder Olsen, who made 102 appearances for his country during an 19-year spell from 1970, led the Danes to two World Cup finals appearances in 2002 and 2010.

Denmark currently lead Euro 2016 qualifying Group I on seven points from four games, but they have played a match more than everyone else in the group.
