New Doncaster Rovers manager Paul Dickov has said that his spell as Oldham Athletic boss has improved him as a manager.
The 40-year old left his post at Boundary Park in January, a month after three of his backroom staff were placed on gardening leave.
Dickov believes that his experience with Oldham will stand him in good stead at the Keepmoat Stadium.
"I had a fantastic two-and-a-half years at Oldham, but it got to the point where I couldn't do my job properly," he told TEAMtalk.
"I had my staff taken away from me, I had no scouting network. Because of the fact that I couldn't carry out what I wanted to carry out, it was probably best that I resigned.
"That's in the past, what I will say is that it has made me a much better manager."
Dickov will take Doncaster into the Championship after the club won this season's League One title.
