One Direction signer Louis Tomlinson will make his long-awaited debut for Doncaster Rovers in a reserve team fixture on Wednesday.

Tomlinson, 22, has been on the club's books since agreeing a non-contract deal in August as part of an ongoing association with the club in aid of Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice.

However, he is yet make an appearance for the Yorkshire club because of an injury he suffered from a challenge by Aston Villa's Gabriel Agbonlahor in a September charity match.

Having fully recovered, Tomlinson will make his Donny bow when the reserves face Yorkshire rivals Rotherham United in their last Final Third Development League game of the season.

"When his schedule allows he comes to watch us, because he supports the team, and he's been here a few times for training sessions ahead of the game," Doncaster spokesman Shaun Lockwood told PA.

"He's met all the players, but I should probably say they've met him because there are certainly a few wives, girlfriends and daughters glad that he's been around."

Doncaster are expecting a crowd of over 4,000 to turn up and watch Tomlinson, with One Direction fans reportedly travelling from as far as France, Italy and Denmark.
