FA interviews 'mystery candidate' over England job

The FA reportedly interviews an unnamed foreign candidate for the vacant England manager's job as it steps up the search for Roy Hodgson's successor.

The Football Association has interviewed a 'mystery candidate' over the possibility of taking over as England manager, according to reports.

The search for Roy Hodgson's successor has stepped up in recent days, with Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce and Hull City boss Steve Bruce both having meetings with the FA.

The three-man selection panel, which consists of technical director Dan Ashworth, chief executive Martin Glenn and vice-chairman David Gill, are also expected to speak to Eddie Howe, Jurgen Klinsmann and Glenn Hoddle, all of whom have been linked with the post.

However, The Telegraph claims that another unnamed foreign candidate has been interviewed by the FA in the last 48 hours.

The FA is thought to favour an English appointment, though, with Allardyce currently the heavy favourite to land the role.
