Gary Lineker: 'We need to focus on coaching in England'

Gary Lineker insists that coaching needs to be the main focus for the FA commission as they aim to improve English football.

Former England international Gary Lineker believes that the Football Association needs to prioritise coaching in the country in order to improve the development of English football.

FA chairman Greg Dyke revealed plans to introduce a new division beneath League Two featuring Premier League 'B teams'.

The commission have also outlined proposals to reduce the number of non-homegrown players in top-flight squads from 17 to 12, as well as a ban on non-EU players joining clubs outside of the Premier League.

Lineker wrote on Twitter: "I've now read the full FA report. Some important points in there that have been ignored because of this 'B team' league nonsense.

"We need to focus on points surrounding the coaching and cultural development of young players and lack of funds for coaches, facilities etc. You'll win nothing without kids, being given the best coaching, decent playing surfaces and protection from clueless parents."

The report also proposed loan partnerships between Premier League, Championship and lower-league teams.
