England boss Roy Hodgson not considering Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain replacement

England boss Roy Hodgson says that he is not thinking about replacing injured Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain yet.

England manager Roy Hodgson has insisted that he is not thinking about calling on a replacement for the injured Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The Arsenal star is currently nursing a knee injury, which he suffered in Wednesday's 2-2 draw with Ecuador at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami.

While there is no current timeline on the 20-year-old's return to action, Hodgson has insisted that he will wait until the day before England's opening World Cup match against Italy on June 14 before making a decision on Oxlade-Chamberlain's fitness.

"There are no changes," Hodgson said in a press conference. "He has been working with the physio the last few days and we will monitor the situation and hope he can recover in time to take part in this World Cup for us.

"He is a very positive character. He must have been pleased with his performance in the last game so you can imagine how he feels about time on the sideline, but his mood is good. There is no need to consider [a replacement ] yet."

England will play Honduras in a warm-up match tomorrow.
