Edgaras Jankauskas: 'We won't let Harry Kane in the stadium'

Lithuania manager Edgaras Jankauskas jokes that he will try to stop the "goalscoring machine" Harry Kane by not letting him in the stadium for their World Cup qualifier.

Lithuania manager Edgaras Jankauskas has joked that he will try to stop the in-form Harry Kane by not letting him into the stadium for his side's World Cup qualifier against England on Sunday.

Kane has been in blistering form for club and country in recent weeks, scoring 14 goals in his last nine appearances including a late winner in England's triumph over Slovenia on Thursday.

Nothing is riding on Sunday's contest with England having already secured qualification for next summer's World Cup, but Kane is still keen to be involved and Jankauskas admitted that it would be difficult to stop the "goalscoring machine".

"The first plan would be to not let him into the stadium! We know he is in terrific form and to stop him, well, we have to pay a lot of attention and to use everything we can against such a machine, such a goalscoring machine," he told reporters.

"Teams like England are always criticised a bit, even if they win and we saw the match and their ability and the goal they scored at the end showed what fitness levels they have.

"In general criticism is always normal when you have so much media interest and football is so popular. I think it shows the level the football is at, even when they are criticised after winning and qualifying for the World Cup."

Lithuania can finish no higher or lower than fifth in Group F.
