England centre-back Harry Maguire says that the Three Lions "are full of confidence" as they prepare to face Colombia.

England centre-back Harry Maguire has said that the Three Lions "are full of confidence" as they prepare to face Colombia in the last-16 stage of the 2018 World Cup.

Thursday's 1-0 defeat to Belgium saw England finish their Group G campaign in second position, which pairs them with Colombia in the round of 16.

Japan would have been England's opponents if they had topped Group G, but Maguire has said that Gareth Southgate's side are positive ahead of the clash with the South Americans.

"We set out our stall out at the start of the tournament to get out of the group and now we have a big game against Colombia which we are looking forward to and one that we are full of confidence about," Maguire told England's official YouTube channel.

"It's a big achievement to get out of the group and it was a big achievement to qualify for the World Cup, for the boys who played in qualifying it's a big achievement. We still feel like there is more to come from us and that's what we have to show against Colombia.

"The fans' reaction back home has been fantastic, that's why we play football because we want to put a smile on people's faces. Thankfully in the first two games we managed to do that, and I want it to happen again.

"We know they have good players, but we will focus more on ourselves and I think if we perform to our best then they have got to worry about us as much as we will have to worry about them. It's a game we will go into full of confidence and we look towards ourselves rather than them."

England have already bettered their performance at the 2014 World Cup, when they exited in the group stages.
