Tony Woodcock: 'England don't have winning mentality'

Former England international Tony Woodcock feels that Germany possess a winning mentality in all the major competitions they enter that the Three Lions lack.

Former England international Tony Woodcock has expressed his belief that the Three Lions lack the winning mentality that is present in Germany's side.

Die Mannschaft will attempt to win their fourth World Cup on Sunday when they face off against Argentina in Rio de Janeiro.

The former Nottingham Forest striker believes that there is a completely different attitude between the two nations when it comes to major competitions.

He told The Mirror: "They don't go to major tournaments with anything other than the intention of winning them. That's a completely natural attitude for them to have. I'm not sure that England have that same mentality.

"Germany reassessed where they were after Euro 2000 and they've moved on and progressed."

Woodcock played in the Bundesliga for seven seasons.
