Everton defender John Heitinga insists that the squad are still confident of reaching the FA Cup semi-final.

John Heitinga has insisted that the Everton squad still believe that they can reach the FA Cup semi-finals.

The Toffees will travel to Sunderland to contest a place in the final four, having drawn 1-1 with the Black Cats on Saturday.

Despite losing their home advantage, Dutch defender Heitinga is adamant that his side can advance through.

"Of course we still believe we can go through," Heitinga told the club's official website. "We're still in the cup. Now we need to play 90 minutes over there and maybe extra time. But we will do everything to win over there and continue in the cup.

"It will be difficult. They play at home so they'll have the home crowd. But I'm sure the away end will be packed with Everton fans and they can make a lot of noise."

The winners of the tie will take on Liverpool for a place in the final.
