Phil Jagielka hopes for FA Cup boost

Phil Jagielka admits that Everton can erase the memories of Tuesday's 3-0 defeat at Liverpool with a victory against Sunderland in Saturday's FA Cup quarter-final.

Phil Jagielka has admitted that Everton can erase the memories of Tuesday's 3-0 defeat at Liverpool with a victory against Sunderland in Saturday's FA Cup quarter-final.

Toffees boss David Moyes made six changes for the trip to Anfield as the visitors were beaten by Steven Gerrard's hat-trick.

"The boys have been doing really well, and I am sure the gaffer will put those lads [back] in for the weekend and we will be able to continue the good cup run we have had," said Jagielka.

"But after the result it puts a bit more pressure on the Cup, because 3-0 isn't good enough.

"It was a big game for us and a lot of us got a chance to play but it didn't really work out very well."

Everton host Sunderland at lunchtime on Saturday for a place in the semi-finals.
