Roberto Martinez: 'Gerard Deulofeu likely to miss Watford clash'

Gerard Deulofeu is set to miss Saturday's Premier League opener against Watford due to a hamstring injury, according to Everton boss Roberto Martinez.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has revealed that Gerard Deulofeu is likely to miss Saturday's meeting with Watford.

Deulofeu secured a permanent move to Goodison Park earlier this summer after impressing in a loan spell during the 2013/14 campaign, but his preparations for the new season were dealt a blow when he suffered a hamstring injury.

"Geri is very good. He's been very lively and was in the dressing room and very happy today," Martinez is quoted as saying by the Liverpool Echo.

"He's already working at 60% so I don't expect him to be too far away. Maybe the weekend will be too early for him but he won't be too far away from coming back."

A hamstring problem will also keep Muhamed Besic out of Saturday's match.
