Everton assistant manager Steve Round is delighted after his side beat West Brom in a hard-fought match at Goodison Park.

Everton assistant manager Steve Round has admitted that his side found it tough to beat West Brom in their Carling Cup third-round tie at Goodison Park.

An extra-time goal from Phil Neville won the game after Marouane Fellaini cancelled out Chris Brunt’s penalty mid-way through the second half.

"We know Roy's teams are well organised and tough to beat and we found it difficult to break them down," he said.

"We had a lot of possession in the first half but couldn't turn that into chances and you are always susceptible to the sucker punch and we got caught on the break.

"Luckily right at the death, Fellaini pops up with a great goal and into extra time Phil Neville produces a wonder-strike to win it.”

Everton return to Premier League action this weekend when they take on Manchester City.
