Everton legend Kevin Sheedy thanks fans for the support he has received during his battle with bowel cancer.

Everton legend Kevin Sheedy has thanked fans for the support he was given during his battle with bowel cancer.

Sheedy, who now works as a coach with Everton's Under-18s, revealed today that he had undergone a successful operation on the disease with which he was diagnosed last month.

The 52-year-old was quick to thank everybody who had sent him supportive messages from all over the world.

"I would like to say a massive thank you to everybody who sent me messages of support, which I got from all over the world," said Sheedy.

"It was very touching and really helped me to deal with my situation knowing that so many people were rooting for me."

Sheedy spent 10 years at Goodison Park, playing over 300 games for the club and picking up two league titles, an FA Cup and a Cup Winners' Cup during his time there.
