Aaron Lennon happy with a point in Merseyside derby

Everton's Aaron Lennon is pleased with a point in the Merseyside derby after their 0-0 draw with Liverpool.

Everton winger Aaron Lennon has said that his side fully deserved a point against Liverpool in yesterday's Merseyside derby.

Chances were few and far between in a tight 0-0 draw at Goodison Park, Lennon's first game since he joined the Toffees on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

Lennon told the club's official website: "I think Seamus [Coleman] had the best chance of the game. It was a great save by the keeper. I don't think there was much in the game. We restricted them quite a bit and I think we definitely deserved a point.

Lennon admits that he was excited to make his debut in such a raucous atmosphere.

"It was a massive game. As soon as I came out for the warm-up, I could tell. I've played in a lot of derbies, but I knew straight away that this was a fierce one. I was just buzzing to be involved to be honest. I was itching to get on. You could see the crowd lifting the players and it's just one of those games you want to get into. I was so happy to come on."

Everton currently sit 12th in the Premier League table.
