Roberto Martinez: 'Romelu Lukaku is improving all the time'

Everton manager Roberto Martinez insists that Romelu Lukaku will only continue to improve with the passing seasons at the club after an inconsistent campaign.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez believes that striker Romelu Lukaku is getting better with each game in his first full season at the club.

The 21-year-old joined the Toffees on a permanent deal from Chelsea last summer for £28m following a successful loan spell at Goodison Park in the last campaign.

The Belgian struggled for form in the early part of the season, but since the turn of the year the striker has fired 11 goals in 16 matches to return to his best.

Martinez is optimistic that Lukaku can end the campaign on a high note to send him into next season full of confidence.

He told the club's official website: "The next six games are an opportunity to have a strong ending to a very positive season for Romelu. In Rom's head is the thought of always achieving, being successful and getting better.

"His level since January has been very impressive. He has had a very good goals tally and he wants to keep adding to it. But more important is to contribute to the team winning and the important role he has on the pitch.

"As a young man, you always want to improve each year. He is trying to add to his game every season and to have a bigger role."

Everton play Burnley in their Premier League clash later today.
