Osman: 'Everton have not replaced Lukaku'

Everton stalwart Leon Osman believes that the Toffees have not replaced Romelu Lukaku and must bring in a number nine to become a top-class team.

Everton have not replaced Romelu Lukaku following the striker's summer departure to Manchester United, according to Leon Osman.

The Belgium international has made an immediate impact at Old Trafford following his £90m move in July, having notched up six goals in six games so far this season.

Osman, who spent his entire 16-year career on the books of the Toffees, believes that Ronald Koeman needs to bring in a new out-and-out striker like Lukaku if he is to have a top-class team.

The 36-year-old told Sky Sports News: "As a squad I think Everton are stronger but when you take someone like Lukaku out of the team you are always going to struggle to replace that and Everton didn't replace it at all.

"I think Ronald Koeman will say he's got a squad in the making, a team that's developing but he is a number nine away from having a top-class team."

Lukaku scored 87 goals for Everton in 166 appearances.
