Everton manager Ronald Koeman has warned that he will need time to implement his ideas following his arrival at the club.
The Dutchman will take charge of his first competitive match since taking over from Roberto Martinez when the Toffees welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Goodison Park on Saturday.
However, Koeman has already admitted that his side are not quite ready for the start of the new season, and claimed that there are "good reasons" why they may not get off to a flying start.
"It is a nice challenge, it is a big project and that project is starting. But it will not be completed after two months - we need more time," he told reporters.
"That is what everybody mentions, but in our way of thinking, it needs time. We know normally in football you don't have time and need to win from the start. But I think there are enough good reasons to explain why we need more time."
Everton failed to win any of their last four pre-season outings heading into the new campaign.
