Price of tickets for FA Cup semi-finals, final reduced

The Football Association reduces ticket prices for the FA Cup final and semi-finals at Wembley.

The Football Association has confirmed that ticket prices for the FA Cup final and semi-finals have dropped by £5.

Tickets to watch the final four in the competition fight it out at Wembley will begin at £30, while the final, which will be staged at the stadium on May 21, will cost £45.

An FA statement read: "Following discussions led by chief executive Martin Glenn, the FA today confirms that ticket prices for the 2016 Emirates FA Cup final at Wembley have been reduced by £5 across all price points.

"In addition, tickets for this year's semi-final matches revert back to 2014 prices. So far, this season's competition has seen attendances close to two million and £13m distributed to clubs across the football pyramid.

"The FA is in a good financial position and lowering the cost of these showpiece matches is in recognition of the strong, continued commitment from fans supporting the world's original cup competition."

The issue of expensive football tickets has been in the spotlight in recent weeks following Liverpool's announcement that some category A games for next season would cost £77.

As a protest, 10,000 supporters walked out of Anfield in the 77th minute of the Reds' 2-2 draw against Sunderland, which was enough to convince the club's American owners Fenway Sports Group to backtrack on their ticket restructuring plans.
