Ronald Koeman believes that Feyenoord can challenge for the Eredivisie title next season, but admits that they can not compete with their rivals financially.

Feyenoord manager Ronald Koeman has insisted that his side can mount a title challenge next season.

The Rotterdam club finished third in the Eredivisie this season, behind Ajax and PSV Eindhoven.

The former Netherlands international does admit that it will be tough, with Feyenoord struggling to compete financially with their rivals.

"This season was good because Feyenoord had a lot of financial problems," Koeman told reporters.

"Maybe next season we will be champions, but it will be a hard fight. PSV Eindhoven and Ajax have more financial possibilities than we have, but we have more talent.

"We have a lot of young players and next season they will be one season older. If we keep them together we have potential."

Feyenoord last won the league title in 1999.
