Nicolas Anelka revisits Raymond Domenech bust-up

Nicolas Anelka insists that former France boss Raymond Domenech did not deserve his respect.

Nicolas Anelka has opened up about his bust-up with former France manager Raymond Domenech, insisting that he was right to insult the coach.

The incident, which occurred during the national team's 2010 World Cup campaign, brought the striker's international career to an end, but he feels no remorse about it four years on.

"I insulted a coach who the whole of France had already insulted, a coach who had never won anything apart from Ligue 2 and the Toulon tournament," he told RCM.

"He didn't know victory. I respect the man because I think he's a good person but I have no respect for the coach because he is not up to scratch."

Anelka went on to say that he found it difficult to respect Domenech, and criticised him over his treatment of Thierry Henry.

"When you have been coached by Ancelotti and other greats, it's hard to be coached by Domenech," he added.

"A coach who demands respect but is incapable of respecting the best scorer in the history of France doesn't deserve any respect."

Anelka is currently without a club after being sacked by West Bromwich Albion last month.
