Conor Gallagher: 'We must build on Fulham result'

West Brom and Fulham are in the relegation zone after their draw.

Conor Gallagher has urged West Brom to use their point from the match against relegation rivals Fulham to spark some survival momentum.

Albion were forced to settle for a frustrating 2-2 draw ahead of Tuesday's Premier League trip to rock-bottom Sheffield United.

The Baggies fought back from 1-0 down as Kyle Bartley and Matheus Pereira struck in the second half before Ivan Cavaleiro's header earned a point for the Cottagers on Saturday.

They remain second-bottom but midfielder Gallagher wants them to finally gain some pace in their battle to beat relegation.

"We can take a lot of positives from the second half and, hopefully, build on from that," the Chelsea loanee told the club's official site.

"The different system seemed to work in the second half as everyone was more familiar with their roles and it helped because we looked more organised.

"Mbaye (Diagne) was a handful when he came on and he is something different to what we have and he can help us over the rest of the season. Hopefully, there's a lot to look forward to now.

"We wanted it more in the second half.

"We played more balls into the big man (Diagne) up top and got a lot of success from it. We were playing it in behind them more in order to make them face their own goal so we could get into the final third.

"To go 2-1 up from being 1-0 down at half-time was great and we tried to hold on with 20 minutes to go, but to concede was gutting for us."

Bobby Decordova-Reid opened the scoring after 10 minutes and also hit the post during a dominant first half for the visitors.

Bartley levelled two minutes into the second half and Pereira made it 2-1 after 66 minutes.

But Cavaleiro earned Fulham, who are in the final relegation spot, a point when he headed in Harrison Reed's cross with 13 minutes left.

Boss Scott Parker said: "We're lacking a killer instinct, that's fair to say.

"You can't play any better than we did in the first half. Would I be more concerned if we weren't getting the chances? Of course.

"You hope it's going to turn and the way to do that is to keep working.

"The hardest thing to do is to put the ball in the net and we have probably fallen short over the last few weeks of doing that.

"There's still a long way to go. There are fine margins and we need to be on the right side of them.

"We've worked very hard, the team have worked hard and we will continue to do that. The coaching staff will keep working with the squad, keep improving, and we'll keep pushing."
