Scottish League One roundup: Morton stay top, Dunfermline thrash Stirling

Greenock Morton remain the League One pace setters in Scotland with a 3-1 win over Stenhousemuir.

Greenock Morton continued to set the pace at the top of Scotland's League One this afternoon with a 3-1 victory over Stenhousemuir, while Dunfermline Athletic moved to within three points of the league leaders after putting four past hapless Stirling Albion.

A first-half double from Lee Kilday was added to in the dying embers by Stefan McCluskey for Morton. Sean Dickson managed a consolation for Stenhousemuir, though the result never looked in doubt for the hosts who keep their march towards the title going.

A Gozie Ugwu hat-trick was built upon by Andy Stirling as Dunfermline put Stirling to the sword, scoring four unanswered. Willie Robertson was shown a red for a bad tackle, adding to Stirling's problems as they continue to try to pry themselves off the foot of the table.

Elsewhere, there were wins for Stranraer and Forfar Athletic, who stay second, and Peterhead played out a 1-1 draw with Brechin City.

Results in full: Dunfermline 4-0 Stirling, Forfar 2-0 Ayr, Morton 3-1 Stenhousemuir, Peterhead 1-1 Brechin, Stranraer 1-0 Airdrieonians
