Bayer Leverkusen have remained in the European places thanks to a 2-1 win at Hoffenheim.
Lars Bender put the visitors ahead in the 15th minute before Roberto Firmino nearly drew Hoffenheim level when his effort rattled the crossbar.
However, Leverkusen made it 2-0 with seven minutes left to play in the first half through Daniel Carvajal.
Fabian Johnson pulled one back for the home side on the hour, but they were unable to find an equaliser.
