Hull City will make Abel Hernandez the highest earner at the club with a £55,000-a-week contract in a bid to ward off potential suitors, according to reports.
The Uruguayan striker, who became the Tigers' record signing when he joined from Palermo two years ago, scored 23 goals last season to fire the club to a first-time promotion back to the Premier League.
According to The Mirror, Hernandez became unsettled at the KCOM Stadium following Steve Bruce's decision to quit as boss three months ago, but the offer of a fresh contract on improved terms is expected to convince him to remain.
Hernandez, who has scored once in seven games this term, is under contract until next summer, but Hull have the option to keep him for a further year.
