Hull City eyeing "five or six" new players

Hull City managing director Nick Thompson feels that the club need to bring in at least "five or six" players to survive in the Premier League next season.

Hull City are looking to sign at least six new players this summer ahead of their return to the Premier League, managing director Nick Thompson has revealed.

Steve Bruce's side secured automatic promotion from the Championship finishing in second place last season, but the club feel that they will need to strengthen to survive in the top flight.

"We want players who are with us for the long-term, not just a short-term pay cheque where if it goes wrong it'll be 'Thanks very much' and we're back to square one," Thompson told the Hull Daily Mail.

"Short-term fixes will get you into trouble in the Premier League. It's ensuring that whatever you do, it adds quality to the squad going forward.

"I think we'll be looking at perhaps four, five or six coming in. Maybe it will be slightly more, maybe slightly less, but it would be somewhere around that."

Hull are interested in bringing in a quality keeper and have been linked with moves for Shay Given, Allan McGregor and Kaspar Schmeichel.
