Inter Milan's Roberto Mancini hails "wonderful challenge"

Roberto Mancini believes that he can build a team at Inter Milan that will be "young and strong for years to come".

Inter Milan manager Roberto Mancini has said that he is looking forward to the challenge of managing the club.

The former Manchester City boss was appointed as the new head coach of the Nerazzurri on Friday, following the dismissal of Walter Mazzarri.

"I don't know what will happen," he told reporters. "I need to get to know the squad first. It's not so easy to sign players in January to immediately strengthen a squad, as he either has to be a world class star or he's likely to take time to settle. We need to see what is needed and what we can do with the current team.

"This is a wonderful challenge for me and one of the many reasons I accepted, as this is a young team and we can grow together.

"I think if we work well, have the same objectives and enthusiasm, then we can build a team that is young and strong for years to come. It is also very important for me that the team plays good football."

Mancini was previously manager of Inter from July 2004 to May 2008 and won four league titles with the club.
