Inter Milan 'propose Fredy Guarin, Erik Lamela swap deal'

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to reject a swap deal between club-record signing Erik Lamela and Fredy Guarin reportedly proposed by Inter Milan.

Inter Milan have reportedly tried to tempt Tottenham Hotspur into cutting their losses on Erik Lamela by offering to exchange him for midfielder Fredy Guarin.

Lamela is Spurs' club-record signing, having arrived in a £30m package deal from Roma in the last transfer window, but he started only two Premier League games under recently-sacked manager Andre Villas-Boas.

Inter are desperate to bring in some attacking options and seem prepared to cash in on Colombian international Guarin in order to find the funds, having touted him to a number of clubs across Europe, including Chelsea, in recent months.

Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Spurs are the latest club to have been offered the 27-year-old's services and Inter are hoping to use him as bait in a deal to bring Lamela back to Serie A just six months after he left.

However, Spurs are determined to give the 21-year-old Argentine time to settle and are expected to quickly rebuff the proposal, while their previous interest in Guarin has waned since the midfield arrivals of Etienne Capoue and Paulinho in the summer.
