Andre Villas-Boas had 'unwanted four' at Tottenham Hotspur

Former Tottenham Hotspur coach Andre Villas-Boas was not keen on signing Erik Lamela, Nacer Chadli, Vlad Chiriches or Christian Eriksen, according to a report.

Reports have suggested that Andre Villas-Boas advised Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy not to buy four of the seven players recruited during the summer transfer window.

The Portuguese coach lost his job at White Hart Lane following Sunday's 5-0 mauling at home to Liverpool.

Spurs' activity in the transfer market has since come under scrutiny, with suggestions that many of the purchases were down to technical director Franco Baldini.

According to the Daily Mail, the former Porto and Chelsea boss did not want Erik Lamela, Nacer Chadli, Vlad Chiriches or Christian Eriksen, and was instead keen on landing Hulk, Joao Moutinho and David Villa with the money received from the sale of Gareth Bale.

Meanwhile, Paulinho, Etienne Capoue and Roberto Soldado were all reportedly signed with the blessing of the 36-year-old.
